Ten sentenced of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has convicted ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced allegations of circulating untruths regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to making defamatory statements about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.
The court issued conditional custodial sentences of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A persistent unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This recent ruling in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's identity.
Their legal filing contends that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence disproving her claim choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her digital program and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron first met her current spouse when she was a teacher at his lycée.
The couple married in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was 54.
